What will happen to it with Kadena gone?
Plenty to do to keep interest levels up, and it gives the opportunity to earn a bit more in the absence of Helium traffic. Unfortunately the nearest gateways to me are 60 miles away. Hopefully some of the Helium gateways in the next town will wake up and start Crankking as well. Could do with integrating some more projects when they come along.

@naj548 it depends on several things: what device you have, what internet connection you have…. I have a Bobcat 300 that doesn’t have a great deal of resources so I haven’t put too many containers on it. I also have a SenseCAP M1 (R-Pi 4b inside) that is a lot more capable. I’m restricted because I have Starlink internet. I would try FlxTime, Duino, Bitping, Repocket, Honeygain, Mysterium… try them all. See what suits you best.

@irreverent_sol My units are both indoors, but with external antenna. If you can get to the sd card or whatever they have to change the operating system to Crankk then you should be ok.
I switched from helium and I can still mine crankk and helium at the same time with the same hardware.. It is one of the few useful projects. Good support and friendly to all depin projects. This is the way to make depin great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@neurolizer do you know if all bobcat 300’s can be flashed. I looked into crankkk a bit ago but my bobcat 300 couldn’t be flashed. I forget what the issue was but it was something related to a difference in hardware between certain serial numbers. I’d love to give it a go if its compatible now.
@naj548Bobcat 300 devices come in four different models that require different firmware. Identify your device model by examining the Serial Number located on its rear side.

Mine happens to be G285, which has this disclaimer near the bottom of the wiki:
“ONLY FOR BOBCAT 300 G285: Do not try to flash the eMMC of a Bobcat g285 model. Only use the SD card method as described in the appropriate wiki. There is a known problem with this device model where some units simply won’t accept the bootloader downloading command during eMMC flashing operations, therefore remaining stuck in the so-called Maskrom mode. The root cause is still unknown and we’re not aware of a permanent fix either. However, we’ve got a workaround: we maintain a dedicated platform Crankk OS build called "Bobcat G285M" that boots on these devices, but only from SD card.”
So I only flashed the bootfixer and run CrankkOS from SD card (per the wiki step by step instructions). Been running smoothly for a few months now.
@neurolizer Thank you! I will have to give this a shot again. I just pulled mine out and confirmed it’s a 285.
I onboarded 5 gateways and the mining experience is just great! Onboarding the gateway was relatively easy and the whole proces took me 30 minutes.
Also, I now get Crankk rewards, but I am also able to multi mine other crypto coins as well on the same gateway using Crankk OS. I can choose myself which crypto projects I wish to multi mine and I have full control.

Crankk has been there since many years, steadily improving and gaining market share. My Helium hotspot can do manymore projects with the Crankk software and I’m earning much more compared to only mining Helium! I love the team, and I Iove the community that is very friendly. Helium is abandoning their community and Crankk is taking over
The best IOT project ever, giving option for a multimining using the same gateway for a lot of additional projects. Providing integration of Meshtastic and all kind of sensors. There is an explorer and an option to boost your rewards. There is a lot more to explore, but the most important thing is that there is a very efficient Customer Support, which no one else have.
I think it will be much nicer on Solana.
