In reaction to this, I will still keep the Helium Hotspot at it’s current location and start setting up Data Only units to just accumulate earnings without the extra hardware costs. I have networking gear that can be utilized.
EDIT - Just realized this is for Helium IoT :) Opps
There’s nothing you can do to restore earnings from Helium IOT that earn pennies a day now unless something crazy changes.
On the PoC side of Helium Mobile where the indoor & outdoor units made by Helium earn PoC you can’t do anything besides compensate for the drop by moving more Passpoint data over carrier offload with Helium Mobile. Talk with friends and see if they know anyone with a business location that has high dwell time and footfall. Share 10-25% of USD earnings or offer to cover their internet bill since that’s a cheaper than rev share in even so-so locations at $50-120 a month)
The Aug 1 halving cut my earnings by 2/3s because most of mine were in residential only earning PoC. Doing that let me stack them 3-6 in a single location and PoC alone ended up fully ROI’ing each unit in something like 3-6 months depending what 3-6 month window of time since Dec 2023 but that’s not possible anymore with a fresh coverage layer on a 1.0x hex using up to 3 outdoors doing something like $1.25 a day each and trending towards zero due to some potential upcoming rule changes… long story short is don’t buy just for PoC anymore but defintely consider it if you have good locations available, especially using indoor units since they’re more likely to be picked up for AT&T and T-Mobile offload. And also look into XNET for AT&T offload if you can handle the extra networking know-how that helps to have when you’re expected to at least know the basics with XNET to make it work well.
