Funny you mention this there was someone on X saying the exact same thing. I said it on there and will say it here too. I wouldn’t say the “community” wanted this. There’s a handful of people with the majority of the voting power. You can see it here: https://heliumvote.com/hnt/proposals/2PEJVC3nc2EncXMeyAzwYexRQmBSv6JyvBCJqNWHg76v
10 people controlled 84% of the vote on that one… “Community indeed”

It’s weird though, it was HM main selling point in the start, get paid crypto. Now points…

What has me questioning this move is: I remember when they switched from mapping rewards to cloud points awhile back, and only those with legacy accounts could still get mapping rewards, they said that new people who signed up for cloud points that there would still be HNT generated for mapping rewards, but instead of going to the user those rewards would go directly to NOVA. Cause they said it takes a lot of money to run a mobile network.
So I’m wondering now, since mapping rewards are going away completely even for legacy accounts, is HNT still going to be generated and just go directly to NOVA? If so, seems like a sneaky move on their part. And they should have just come out plainly and said, we want/need all the rewards for ourselves, so no one else gets mapping rewards.
Either way, this is the final push for me to get rid of my cell phone plan and just go old school. And when I mentioned that in their discord, of course every said I was stupid too cancel. But like JD said, the main selling point when Helium first started was “People powered! And Earn Crypto Rewards” So why would I stay loyal to a company that has now taken away everything that made me sign up and participate in the first place? Idk
