This one is a not brainer for the business owners or people that want free wifi for guest. It allows you to seperate your internet and earn a little at the same time. Win win in my book plus you can use mobile hnt and earn more. I am working on it for employees. This is actually a win when you can get a hold of them. I made the mistake of trying at home with a 2nd. I am adding to my workplace in another direction. Demand is there so I will fill it.
Helium is a great example of a community-driven project while still having Nova Labs as the official maintainer, which keeps things organized and reliable. Out of all the DePIN projects, it feels like the best use case — supporting real data offloading for big carriers while building on the foundation of Helium IoT devices. Overall, it seems like the most well put-together and mature project I’ve seen in the data offload space.
Agreed. I am impressed as well even though I’ve lost the PoC rewards recently as a contributor.
Imo, the most maturity part of this project is not the partnership w/ Nova labs (other DePIN projects do that too), but the strategic partnership w/ big carriers (or the centralized part of the world). Most other projects are too revolutionary (or in other words, less practical) so that they only compete w/ the big players in the same space. I am looking forward to more DePIN projects adopting a soft approach on landing and gain solid positions in the future, eg. DePIN compute to partner w/ AWS/Azure/GCP to undertake edge computing instead of competing with them on AI related tasks … (I mean really, does anyone in those DePIN spaces had prior experience in cloud infrastructures, foundation model pre-training or LLM batch inferences? Do they even build AI algorithms?)

@UFO I’m not nearly as familiar with the other data offloading projects but I imagine they are following the same process as getting big carriers contracts for data offloading, I think Helium has just been so well established in the game due to the IOT side of things dating back like 10 years.
I am also excited about the DePIN cloud computing projects and their progression. I have a Aethir Edge on its way now. 😃
