Is there anyway to increase our “Observed Bandwidth”. I’ve got 2GB down and 360(ish)MB upload, yet my bandwidth is only 3.011 MB/s. How is this number calculated? Will changing the value in the anonrc file do anything?
@bob_carsyn The hardware relay is not set automatically as an “Exit Node”. So unless you config it to run as one, you will not be one. Exit nodes do earn bonus rewards for being one.
This is from my relay log earlier this morning as it rebooted itself:
Jun 17 08:09:04.189 [notice] By default, Anon does not run as an exit relay. If you want to be an exit relay, set ExitRelay to 1. To suppress this message in the future, set ExitRelay to 0.
@bob_carsyn As long as you are not running your relay as a “Exit Node” then it doesn’t / shouldn’t matter. Only the exit node will have it’s IP Addy broadcasted to the Internet and ISP.
@Goku444 Very poor “Observed Bandwidth” Not sure why, wish it was better.
@bob_carsyn I did purchase 1 node, it’s up and running. Currently in this 1st phase of the software release, it’s only testing uptime, hardware and that kind of stuff. No data is being stored just yet.
The project has been around, they started on Polygon blockchain, and are now switching to PEAQ. So there is already data/customers for Node Operators. I tossed in a 22TB drive in my rack mount for this project. So I’ll see how it goes. Like I mentioned before, I go heavily into the decentralized storage projects.
Storj 30TB
Siacoin 40TB
DeNet 22TB
Chia 1.25PB
I’ve got 4 Helium stations running for 2 years now. Never had to change the batteries.
@bob_carsyn DeNet just launched the 1st phase of the node software. So if you purchased a node during the sale you can get it up and running. Basically I understand it as this:
The Node provides storage space to be rented out which in turn earns you DeNet tokens (TGE by end of this year).
Watcher Node is used on mobile devices and basically checks files on storage nodes to make sure there are enough copies for redundancy.
I think it would be cool to have. I’m running a lot of projects that are available from HD, but also ones that I don’t ever recall being talked about here. Mostly I do a lot of HDD storage projects (Storj, Sia, Chia, and now DeNet).
@Goku444 Yeah I’ve got the bandwidth set all the way up in the RCP. I’ve connected 2 phones to the relay and just have 10hr videos playing on 1 of the phones to push through data/traffic.
Unfortunately I have Comcast, and their XB8 router/modem doesn’t let me set rules for bandwidth control for devices.
I have 2GB down and 360(ish)MB up speed.
Current token price: 0.000063
Your earned tokens: 104,360.
The next step is simple math. 104,360 X .000063 = $6.57
Keep in mind the more devices that come online, obviously daily rewards will start going down.
As of today, my answer would be “No”. I’ve still got another 1.5ish years left for my 4 macaroons. When that time is up, I’ll probably exit the project, unless rewards and token price would offset the subscription price. Then I’d have to weigh the pros and cons.
@PuNkYsHuNgRy I haven’t seen anything yet in regards to the Macaroons. Just the R1 device.
I would stake 10K ATH no problem. Especially if you have the opportunity to get 240ATH/day. Also don’t forget that we should still be getting daily rewards for the current system setup (30, 30, 40) right? Like the 100ATH I got tonight June 2nd, I got 30 right away, and another 30 on Sept 2, then the final 40 on Dec 2. So daily rewards should still be sent out until Dec 11/12 for the current system. Unless they are just going to give us all those earned tokens when the switch to 2.0 happens.
Yes we “may” get the actual product at some point, but at what cost. If/when the phone does come out, it will be severely outdated and the specs will be something from 1999.
I myself have never had any issues with my stations(4). All data has been accurate.
