During the wait for the BEE to be released, they did state they would be lowering rewards slightly. It was a severe cut in earnings only made worse by the token price plummeting.
What was $20-$30 avg earnings (sometimes over $300 due to work drives) is now maybe $6

It’s all one big giant scam like the man Ariel himself. I wont be surprised if they’re already dumping everything, or minimising risk by getting you all to help clear their stock. Do NOT be their exit liquidity.
The old cameras have a much higher yield than the new ones, I know eventually they will be phased out even though the team assured they would always have a use back when the BEE was in production phase. Value wise, the amount of honey is about what the original camera cost but I’m planning to just ride the old camera out. I have some of the new BEEs and they aren’t great for yield so no plans to buy more.
@bitspleaseyt it was always the plan for Hivemapper to sunset the old cameras when the Bee was announced. In the very first AMA in Feb 2024 Ariel even confirmed that they would support the old cameras for a time (always assumed to be at least until July 2025, when the last warranties expired) and then eventually they would stop support for them since their pipelines were expensive to maintain on AWS.
Never once did they say they would continue to support them forever.
@Xrave not publicly but that’s what I was told by John in an email about buying more original cameras vs buying the (then upcoming) bee. Best I can come up with is he must have lied to help get rid of old camera stock. Thanks for the reply though. 🤷🏻♂️
Is that deal worth it? Very curious what the DePIN community here thinks.
