@PacketThrower as I am still an begginer with the mobile minors I am 2 only in my 2ed week with my data only 5g mobile wifi minor hooked up and I am enabled for carrier offload beta I seen earlier on helium geek that my hotspot did pass carrieroffload data and I was rewarded for it from what I can tell, I will attach the screenshot here if possible and if you or anyone can weigh in and confirm if yes that carrier offload did occur and when this phases out of beta or even now for that matter how is it effecting or will it effect our rewards?

@PacketThrower Any info on the helium builder app? CDR? What lights are showing on your indoor/outdoor hotspot?

@NodeNomad I just checked again and I am seeing data now. I am using the ‘Data-Only’ Brownfield configuration. This isn’t using a Indoor or Outdoor hotspot, and I don’t have it in the Helium Builder App on my phone. Am I able to add it there? This is what I have running?

Since this is now working, I’m going to take my Helium indoor hotspot can to it’s original place.

@PacketThrower My apologies, I misunderstood your original post. No, you cannot use the Builder app for data-only hotspots. Glad you got it to work!

@NodeNomad Thanks for the confirmation!. The Data-Only configuration is new to me and actually very exciting. I have many Unifi environments spread across my state that I helped provision and I still have access to for support. I could easily get Helium in there with the client’s consent.. I do have a question though for Data Credits as I’m kinda lost there.

I know I must provide DC for activating the Data Only hotspot, but if I’m reading the documentation correctly, I’m technically charged a rental for having the Data only hotspot available is that right? I need to provide a cut of the profits to Helium?

@PacketThrower from my understanding of data-only hotspots (I don’t have any deployed), you burn DC once to activate the hotspot, and then additional DCs are burned whenever data is offloaded through it. Billing happens in 24-byte increments — so a packet of 0–24 bytes costs 1 DC, 25–48 bytes costs 2 DCs, and so on.

Those DCs are burned, and in return the network issues HNT as a reward for successfully routing that traffic. In other words, you’re not charged just for keeping the hotspot online — the costs are only activation and actual data transmission, and rewards are directly tied to the amount of data your hotspot forwards.
