@Xrave great answer
@LastSunset Here’s an example chart of how the grading is done, the center is directly above the device - its basically a dome. The more it can see, the better rewards you will earn.
If you install on the edge of the balcony then at least half of this graph will be dark red as it cannot see air vehicles in that area
@Yakob That’s a good image of how it works. I’m getting ready to deploy my station in a few weeks. If I remember correctly the dome begins at a 10 degree angle from the base of the unit. It’s starting get crowed up on my roof lol.
Was curious if I can deploy the Wingbits on a balcony railing.
It’s a covered deck on my townhouse but facing out to southern sky is a clear line of sight.
No one else is in my hex so I thought I would look into it.
Other thought is I have an existing roof mount for DirecTV dish. Could it use my existing Coax Cable?
You can mount it anywhere but your rewards are based on how far your signal reaches and how many planes you can ping. It will earn something but not as much as it could earn.
Also the wingbits stations get power from its own custom cable, so you’ll need to run another cable up to the roof.
